This is my first Juried Fine Arts Show in April of 2008. I was so shocked that they called my name and gave me the award!
When I was setting up at this event, there were over 100 very talented artists from 7 Southwestern states. When I saw their Art, I began shaking like a leaf. I was afraid that they send me home because my Art was nothing like the beautiful pieces I saw there. The judges kept coming back to my booth with stern looks and whispering between themselves. My wonderful husband, Vince, kept me on both feet and assured me that I did indeed, belong there. They called my name!
Needless to say, I was walking on air the entire weekend. Who knew? Little old me became a Juried Fine Artist. I am still reeling.

This is my second Louis Armstrong Photo Art piece. This one is a close up of him blowing his trumpet. You can see his fingers on the left and his instrument to his mouth. The same medium was used as in all my others, fabric and fusible tricot. Standing away from your monitor gives a better view.

To obtain this image, I used a photograph that was scanned into my computer. Batik and hand dyed fabrics were used to finish the Art. Thousands of small pieces were used in this process. The colors are from the fabric and not from paint, even though it appears to look like a painting!

This piece took two weeks to complete and I used cotton fabrics with fusibles. When I see this piece on my wall, it looks like it was made with clay. I can see what appears to be finger trails and marks. This image is leading me to a different type of art. It looks like a sculpture. The colors that were chosen were ony 12. original photo that I used This palette will be used again in another image, so check my page often.

This image is the Blue Ridge Mountains waterfall in Virginia. When I heard about the tragic news at Virginia Tech, I remembered that I had a photograph in black and white. I selected blues, greens, silver, white and black as the main colors to try to recreate it with fabric. I was unsure if I could capture a realistic water scene. The piece is made from small strips, rectangles and squares of fabric. It took about 400 hours to complete. Each hour that I worked on this wall art, I had a serene sense of calmness. While listening to the tragic news, I was making this beautiful work of art and feeling the senseless loss of our children gone forever. The water seemed to flow and I imagined listening to the sounds as it passed over the rocks. It was like free spirits making a way through the waters. When I stood away from the piece it really did capture the entire scene and made it come alive. It is breath taking. It measures 30′ x 40″.

The Golden Lab image was made using a photograph that was scanned into my computer. I used fabric strips that is fused to a lightweight tricot backing to transform this into Fabric Photo Art.
Any photo can be used to create this Mosaic Art.
This is much easier and can be done in a weekend. This version I teach in a 3 hour class. The classes are taught here in Las Vegas at a large Sewing and Craft store.

This recent addition of my Gallery of Mosaic Photo Art Quilts is smaller in size of 15″ x 17 1/2″. This piece took less time than my others, however, there were more tiny pieces needed to achieve the details in the images. You may need to step away from the computer for better viewing. Dean Martin is smoking a cigarette. Can you see it?
I tried to use neon colors for a different look. This one may need to be in the larger format. I will add that to my re-do list.
