The image you are looking at is made from cotton fabric! No paint was used even though it looks just like a painting. To begin the process, a photo was scanned into the computer, a pattern was created, batik and hand dyed fabrics were selected and fused onto a lightweight tricot using a mini iron. It has been sprayed with acrylic, UV protectant and is ready for framing.
The process takes 80-100 hours for a size 15″x22″ and sometimes the pieces are so little (1/4″) it can fit on you fingernail with plenty of room to see your nail!
The fabric selections seems to be the key in obtaining the painted look, even though I like to think that I have a little talent! Have a photo? Personal commissions welcomed.
