To obtain this image, I used a photograph that was scanned into my computer. Batik and hand dyed fabrics were used to finish the Art. Thousands of small pieces were used in this process. The colors are from the fabric and not from paint, even though it appears to look like a painting!

This image is the Blue Ridge Mountains waterfall in Virginia. When I heard about the tragic news at Virginia Tech, I remembered that I had a photograph in black and white. I selected blues, greens, silver, white and black as the main colors to try to recreate it with fabric. I was unsure if I could capture a realistic water scene. The piece is made from small strips, rectangles and squares of fabric. It took about 400 hours to complete. Each hour that I worked on this wall art, I had a serene sense of calmness. While listening to the tragic news, I was making this beautiful work of art and feeling the senseless loss of our children gone forever. The water seemed to flow and I imagined listening to the sounds as it passed over the rocks. It was like free spirits making a way through the waters. When I stood away from the piece it really did capture the entire scene and made it come alive. It is breath taking. It measures 30′ x 40″.

This image was made with cotton fabrics and fusibles. It is called the kiss and shows silhouettes of two people with their heads together, ready for a kiss. This one took me two week to complete, workinf 10 hours each day.

The Golden Lab image was made using a photograph that was scanned into my computer. I used fabric strips that is fused to a lightweight tricot backing to transform this into Fabric Photo Art.

Any photo can be used to create this Mosaic Art.
This is much easier and can be done in a weekend. This version I teach in a 3 hour class. The classes are taught here in Las Vegas at a large Sewing and Craft store.

This image is made from fabric and fusible tricot. It shows Mike’s tattoo on the side of his face. The Photo Art is sprayed lightly with acrylic and UV protectant to resist fading. It it shipped rolled into a tube and ready for framing.

This piece was made using hundreds of fabric pieces, some as little as 1/4 inch! The palette was made using 9 batik and handdyed fabrics. It appears like many more colors were used because the selected fabrics have several colors within one piece. The focus was to make her lips red and the palette called for the same color red in nose, eyes and eyebrows. I was a little hesitant because this was a little out of my comfort zone. When it startind coming together, it was really extraordinary! I love it! I will definately try it again without worries.

It is beautiful in normal lighting, however when the lights are dim it takes on a different tone and comes alive! I do hope that my photography does it justice.

This is not my favorite because I used too many fabrics with the same values of green. This image is up because I wanted to show that I do make mistakes. This image will be created with different colors and he will be his handsome self again.

The image you are looking at is made from cotton fabric! No paint was used even though it looks just like a painting. To begin the process, a photo was scanned into the computer, a pattern was created, batik and hand dyed fabrics were selected and fused onto a lightweight tricot using a mini iron.

The process took about 200 hours due to the larger size and sometimes the pieces are so little (1/4″) it can fit on you fingernail with plenty of room to see your nail! Stand away from computer for full effect. It is protected with acrylic spray and UV applied to prevent fading from sunlight.

The fabric selections seems to be the key in obtaining the painted look, even though I like to think that I have a little talent! Have a photo? Personal commissions welcomed.

This image uses a palette that look so realistic. When I look at it, it seems like he’s in the room. It took about 60 hours to complete and I used 9 colors. The medium is fabric, fusible and a tricot backing. When the lights are dimmed, you can really see the dimensions and the colors seem to recede in the background. The picture looks so real!

Stand away from your computer screen to get the better view. It measures 13 1/2″ x 18″.
